Okay so its been over 8 weeks now. I have a 5gal tank. It has a filter, heater, light, airstone. I put fish and an african dwarf frog in it without cycling when I got it...well, the fish died. I got a Master Test kit and have been testing the water, doing 10% changes and a 50% change...

Do you mean when I added them to the tank? Let them float, added water, let them float some more, added a little water, etc then added them? I did do that :)

No salt was added. The pH was high, at 7.6...the high range was 8.0 There are no more fish in the tank, just a dwarf frog. The fish weren't sick to begin with, they seemed happy and good the first few days, then they started going downhill. Now I am confused as to how much/how often to change...

Oh, ok. I was told a 20% is what I should do :confused: Will do a 50% change next time.

I am not testing right after a water change, but before. Yesterday my Nitrites were at 0, Ammonia was about 25 and Nitrate was 0....I did a 20% change. I just tested again awhile ago (about 24 hours later) and the readings were the same.

I had done 1 50% change yesterday when I tested the water....but it was done a good 7 hours before the water test. I'm aware that my tank probably isn't cycled yet, hence my confusion, hence my coming here to ask questions.

Yeah, that's what I was told to do on my other thread here.

I did :/ I even timed how long I shook it. Should I continue with the water changes and recheck the levels tomorrow?

Oh and I had a few male guppies.

Well, another guppy has died :( I did do the 2nd water change. I ordered the API Master Test Kit you suggested on Amazon Prime and it gets here tomorrow. I feel so bad.

I will do that! Since I can't get the exact gallon amount that I am re adding to the tank, is it possible to over do it on the tank conditioner? I am eyeballing it to the best of my ability, but better too much than too little right?

Well the 1 fish that wasn't doing so hot this morning died :( Good news though, since the water change the other 2 have perked up and are swimming around happily again and they even ate a bit. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for all the help.
