My Gold Barbs are getting attacked

I have noticed over the last couple of weeks my Gold Barbs have some fin/scale damage when I turn the light on in the morning. This morning, one of the gold barbs was the worst I've seen. Any advise? My 46 gallon tank is stocked as follows: 4 Gold Barbs 5 Tiger Barbs 2 Black Mollies 2 Platys...

Is my tank close enough to level?

I took some pictures with the water low in the tank. The level was too big for the job. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Is my tank close enough to level?

Hi fish wrangler, It's a 4' level. I got that one so it spanned the width of the tank. More than half of it hangs over the front of the tank when I'm checking front to back though. The bottom of the stand is a solid piece of plywood. The tank looks fine when full and is stable. Even when a...

Is my tank close enough to level?

I set up a new 46 gallon bow front tank yesterday. After filling I noticed the waterline was just slightly off. I got a level today and checked the tank both side to side and front to back. Below are pictures from the level. The first is the tank itself, the second is left to right, and the...

    RCS question

I have 10 RCS in my tank. Most of them have developed a yellow patch on their back right behind their head. At first I thought it may be the egg sack. But, today I noticed the same yellow part on one one of the male shrimp. Now I'm not sure what it is. Anyone have any insight on this?

    Make tank look better?

I'd suggest sand substrate with some varying height live plants and a nice background. Maybe some slate/lava rock etc... Or, possibly adding a large centerpiece of driftwood if that's more your style. Get creative with it! 90 gallons has so many possibilities.

    0 nitrates.

Lower temperatures will slow bacterial growth while higher temperatures will promote it. That being said, almost any temperature suitable for fish keeping is fine for bacterial growth. If you do choose a high temperature make sure you have enough oxygenation. The higher the temperature, the...

    Ph

That ph range is fine for neon tetras. Their preferred ph is actually 7.6. But, your tank's actual ph is less important than keeping whatever the ph is stable. Most fish can adopt to a wide range of ph as long as it is stable. But, many will suffer greatly if the fluctuation is great.

    Neon tetra help!

7 to 10 should be fine in your size tank. Just be sure to have adequate filter action. Neon tetras thrive in a gh of 110ppm. But, as the previous poster stated, they will adjust to the local water supply.

    LED Moonlight

I once asked Fluval this as a setup of theirs I had purchased had this feature. They informed me that the LED Moonlight is not visible to the fish and causes the nocturnal fish to become active. The advantage of this being that under its blue glow you can still see your nocturnal fish. They...

    Brown algae?

All the plants in the tank are real. I assume this means an additive is not needed?

    Royal plec missing ?

I think it may be a time/acclimation thing. Mine was very hide during the day out at night for about a week. Then just yesterday I found him sucking on the front glass in the middle of the day.

    Royal plec missing ?

I recently got a bristlenose. When I added him he quickly attached himself to the underside of a rock in the back corner of my tank. The first night he came out and explored a bit more. But, they enjoy hiding during the day.

    Brown algae?

I've had my new tank set up for about three weeks now. Over the last week what looks like brown algae has started to grow and crept across the sand substrate. I'm not positive if it is actually algae or what I should do about it for that matter! Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Nitrogen cycle problems...

Thanks bbradbury and pip. I had only 4 small fish in my 29 gallon tank up until about a week ago. Now I have 7; three corydoras, two danios, a tetra, and a bristlenose pleco.

    Nitrogen cycle problems...

I am using an API Master test kit. But, all readings are from right before partial water change/conditioner. At time of testing, Prime had been out of the water for a week.
