    Canister filter/refugium

I'm about to move into a 36g from a 25g (which is posted below looking for advice with the transplant), but I'm also considering a canister filter and putting a 10-20g refugium. Never done (or needed a refugium) so I'm not really sure what I can run out of it (filter, skimmer, etc.). Just...

    25g-36g conversion

I started a 25g as an experiment a year ago to see if I could maintain it. It has been quite a success and I'm moving up to a 36. How do I transplant? I was thinking, start the new tank, get it cycled and only transplant the living. Problem is, my mushrooms, birds nest, zoas, and brain are all...

    Manderin feeding w/gluttonous Gramma

I promised I'd keep you all updated; so I never actually saw him eat, but I gave him frozen brine shrimp (because I couldn't get it locally and was too impatient to order them) and flakes (mixture from LFS) flavored with Kent Garlic Xtreme. For about a week it didn't seem he was eating but then...

    Manderin feeding w/gluttonous Gramma

Thank you all, this is really inspiring. I'm anxious to start the weaning process. He's currently very active, I'm assuming that's a good sign; though again, looking a little emaciated. I put about a quarter of a pod bottle in the bottom of the tank (in a bottle with the neck facing sideways...

    Manderin feeding w/gluttonous Gramma

That's a very inspiring success story. I've already bought another bottle of pods which will go in tonight. I was thinking of how to isolate and train him and what you described is about what I had planned. I'm ambitious to try. To anyone who's worried I'm making a mistake, I will keep you...

    Manderin feeding w/gluttonous Gramma

The health of the mandarin is definitely my priority and taking him back is most likely what's going to happen asap, I was just doing some 'fishing' for advice to see if there was anything else I could try before giving up. I'd rather take back the gramma, but if there's really no 'quick fix'...

    Manderin feeding w/gluttonous Gramma

The tank is about 10 months old. I knew he wouldn't eat prepared food, I just didn't realize my gramma had such an appetite. I didn't think about the refugium, though I don't have time to establish one if he's starving already. Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Manderin feeding w/gluttonous Gramma

I finally got a green mandarin dragonet and the LFS recommended 'trigger pods'. I followed all directions and was told the pods should last about a month. I did add them in TOTAL darkness as not to entice a feeding frenzy and left them in the dark overnight. By morning, sure enough, pods...

    Lighting

Yeah, $300+ is going to be out of the question for this one, maybe the upgrade though. So I'm guessing I need a full spectrum, does it have to be LED? And what wattage/lumines should I be looking for? Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Lighting

I'm sure it's 25g, I can't find it on the internet either. I've been looking for a hood bc mine broke and that's why the light took a dive, no cover. I will definitely look into the web sites listed, thanks all for the input. Also, thanks Redwolf, I'll definitely look into that as well. Though...

    Lighting

There are so many different articles and opinions out there that suggests this light is better because this, or that, but I can't find anything that will tell you what you NEED. So here's what I need: I have a 25g hex tank, (so it's deep, not long) with a mushroom, 1Royal Gramma, 1 Tailspot...

    Chocolate chip starfish?

I read that asterina can produce rapidly and become a nuisance due to their numbers, true story? Should I keep an eye on rapid population growth? Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Chocolate chip starfish?

Got a couple of these guys; the tank I got the LR from did have a chocolate chip starfish in it, could this be babies? Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Mushroom

Before you judge me; the tank was given to me and I've never done a saltwater before so this is all completely new to me. Everything that I've done is at the recommendation of my LFS's; yes, I am a saltwater noob. I have my water tested weekly at LFS. 1. Type & how long you have had it: 25gal...

    Mushroom

This is my first piece, had it for a week now and has been doing great, today looks like this. Is this normal? Do I need to put it closer to the light? Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Centipede bug

I've got three bristle (that I've verified), this guy looks nothing like them and it's fast, really fast; bristles aren't... That I've observed anyway. Sent from my HTC One using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Centipede bug

I've got a critter crawling around my LR that's too fast to photo but is a white, translucent centipede looking thing. Any thoughts?

    Slug?

Found this slug(?) guy crawling around the bottom of my LR, any ideas? Good/bad? The only other critters I've seen are 3 bristle worms an elusive ghost shrimp(?) and an equally elusive snail.
