    PLEASE HELP! Plant problem :(

My bad, profile pics and display names tell very little about gender and I don't snoop profiles usually. This is definitely the second time in the same post I called someone by the wrong gender. Everyone is gonna be called her/she from now on. Might as well irritate the men for a while instead...

    PLEASE HELP! Plant problem :(

I assume he means the light that came with the tank. You could try putting your filter in the water for a week or two and running the filter pump without the filter in as well. Sent from my LG-E971 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    PLEASE HELP! Plant problem :(

Often test kits have trouble reading exactly with low ammonia, <0.25 is usually not a problem for most fish but the color could also be off as basic liquid test kits aren't really sensitive enough to detect 0.25ppm accurately. What do you use to remove chlorine? Some chlorine removers also...

    Tropical plant resources...

I don't know, it was a guess. Again I was told earlier by someone who seemed to know their stuff that 6700k is too low and deemed it unnecessary to tell me how much was enough. And again no one was replying to the guy, figured id give it a shot. Besides what's the point of trying something new...

    Tropical plant resources...

I don't know but after 2 hours of no one responding to him I figured someone should. I did say literally right before that that I'm running a single 6700k and its doing fine. Which I might add got a snide response as well on a different post. This is just like talking to old mechanics lol, the...

Afaik fertilizer enriched aquatic planting soil has the macro nutrients covered, but trace elements will probably need to be added, you can buy the super master test kits which have iron test in them. The planting medium isnt just for nutrient supply but also a better substrate for the roots to...

    PLEASE HELP! Plant problem :(

I don't see why not, the only perameter that is less than ideal is your ammonia, which isnt at a super toxic level, 0.25 is probably just not good for long term tolerance. You have fish in there already so you have at least started your cycle. The only thing id be concerned with is the liquid...

    PLEASE HELP! Plant problem :(

Hard to tell on my phone but it looks like brown algae. Which is common in new tanks. Oto catfish love that stuff and don't harm plants, they're also pretty tiny. Sent from my LG-E971 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Additionally you can use larger plants that have high lighting reqs to shade ones under them with low light reqs. As to dhg, everything ive read suggests its medium light, high light +co2 for carpeting perhaps. Sent from my LG-E971 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Anubias, dwarf hairgrass and amazon sword all have temperature ranges that top out at 82 and start between 70 and 75. They are all medium light plants too which is nice and consistent. As for the substrate maybe do a layer of planting medium under your sand. That will give your roots a better...

    PLEASE HELP! Plant problem :(

Well bacteria needs food. When I cycle a tank I usually start with plants in from day 1, and add heavier than normal amounts of seachem flourish. It contains a trace amount of ammonia (you would have to go really overboard to make your tank toxic with that stuff) but that trace ammonia gives the...

Blue green algea. Is this true?

I would still give a 2 day blackout a shot, if nothing else it will weaken the BGA making spot treatments more effective, that just my point of view as its a non chemical method. But definitely boost your nitrates first, gives other plant life more of the base nutrients they need allowing them...

Blue green algea. Is this true?

Cyanobacteria does need light to move around, without it it will rise to the surface like scum, if your plants are healthy enough to withstand a couple of days without light you can try doing a tank black out, remove all light from the tank for a few days. If you are concerned your plants won't...

Blue green algea. Is this true?

My mollies only touch hair algae when I havent fed them for a couple days, which only happened a couple times when I over fed them and was trying to get their bloating down. Even then they only went after the hair algae that was broken free from the substrate, they didn't bother rooting around...

Tank lighting for medium to high light

Here's an image of one patch, its been growing approximately 2 months, its slowly sprouting new blades here and there whenever I clip it. I also just swapped my 2700k for a 6700k bulb this evening, the color is much nicer.

Tank lighting for medium to high light

Thanks for the reply, lumens are just a spectrum measurement 750 being in the red spectrum which is good chlorophyll b(?) Photosynthesis. I want to avoid green and white light since it favors 650 lumens which doesn't help plants much. I will post some photos when I get a chance. Before I do I...

Tank lighting for medium to high light

Hey guys, I'm still kinda new here but id like to ask about tank lighting. I essentially want to maintain or improve my light providence without having a funky color to everything in the tank. I'm currently growing DHG, and so far its been successful, I think the light I have now is outputting...
