    Understanding sumps/return pumps

Hello reefers! I've owned a few reef tanks and have had great success with them. But I've never had a sump! My problem is I just do not understand the plumbing behind it. Could anyone explain to me how the water falls into the sump and is returned to the display tank so perfectly without any...

    Corals! :)

I personally think most soft corals and LPS corals are pretty easy to take care of. Get a good light, keep up with your water changes with some good salt. If you keep a good schedule, you shouldn't have any problems Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Lights for PTA?

I would get either a 6bulb T5HO fixture, Or at least one good led fixture. I've had great results using my ocean revive light over my SPS and I don't even use it at full power. I'm sure at full power you'll be able keep anemones easily. And they aren't too expensive. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Full spectrum Led light question?

I use ocean revive lights. I've had many people agree with me and just a few say that saving up and getting something better will pay off. Me and all my buddies use ocean revive and have had zero issues and awesome growth. You can get a unit for like 180? Something like that. Sent from my...

    Dual t5 HO for corals

Hi everyone, I just gave my girlfriend my old 20 long aquarium and a dual bulb t5 ho fixture. She claims to not really want to add corals but we all know how that goes lol. 2 months and that will change lol. Anyways my question is... What can I keep under just 2 bulbs? Obviously no anemones...

    Shopping at Petco

I already know that most everyone will agree that it's not to shop at Petco. Especially the one near me because nearly everything has ich. Here's my question... Are inverts safe to buy from ich filled tanks? My lfs sells cleaner shrimp for 55$ but Petco sells for 23$. Will I be introducing ich...

    Perching fish ideas?

I'm not really afraid of it being with my cleaner. I have a peppermint but it's not really a small one. My girlfriend decided to treat herself and add her own fish to my tank Lol. So adding another will have to wait for a little. It's a toss up between the midas and the long nose. They both are...

I used shells from grenada. Worst thing that happened to me was the shells turned to a green then brown color. Not sure what that means but I've no water quality issues Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

The temptation is real-a 29 gallon for $80?

Not sure how much on the water bill, but the cost in salt will be almost nothing because one bag of 15lb salt can last you at least a couple months. The "catch" with no skimmer making sure you're keeping up with water changes and siphoning up any left over food at best. I would def do at least...

    Help with first tank

My buddy has a 29 gallon and he has two 500gph pumps on opposite sides of the tank. The flow is perfect IMO and he has some good turbulence. As for lighting, I always tell people to look into ocean revive. I have one over my tank and I have new growth on nearly everything at the moment. You can...

    Lighting

Look into ocean revive lights. More expensive than the eBay brands but not nearly as expensive as the big name brands. I have one on my 40gb and have so much new growth on nearly everything. I only have soft sand lps. But the guy I buy corals from has about 8 of these lights on his tanks. He has...
