    Algae issue

Ah good idea SFAquariums1 I will mention that to him as it does make a great deal of sense. It is a very light/ bright room so maybe best to just stick to natural light for a few days and then increment from there. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Algae issue

Thanks Mebbid you've been so very helpful, we have a plan of action now, water change and cleanse tomorrow and then it's light out for 3 day. Let's hope that solves most of the issues. Do u think it might be an idea to wash the cartridges that are in the filter to remove any remnants of the...

    Algae issue

this is a small patch that has just appeared almost out of no where. Having read up on Cyanobacteria I can see it's growth is spurred by light and I seen that one of the treatments is to switch off the light for 3 days. The room the tank is in is quite a light room and light comes on for...

    Feeling soo silly

I specifically asked if they'd shoal together due to the nipping issue. I said it several times. Think I'll return the glow lights and get more neons since they were there first. I've only got a 19L (5.5 gal) I knew I'd seen something about it online as well soooooo annoying. I just feel...

    Feeling soo silly

Yet again I followed advice given by the LFS (a different one for the first twice) I had bought 4 Eastern European neon tetra which are all nipping each other, I asked here and people advised to expand the group to atleast 6. So off I went to the LFS to get 2 more minimum when I got there I...

    Neon tetra fin nipping

I only have 4 is that maybe an issue as well? The LFS told me that was perfect but it's just not an enjoyable experience watching them just now. One poor soul has almost lost half it's tail fin. Also I think I was misled about how stable they are my water might not quite be ready for them...

    Neon tetra fin nipping

Hi all, Just bought 4 neon tetra for my 19L tank and I notice that one is nipping the fins of the other 3. In this tank are also 2 sunset platys. I don't know what to do, should I remove the nipper? I don't fancy waking up to find fish dead with no tails Also my platys have been happy to...

    Brand new to aquariums

yes i went from having none o having 4 so i think i'll give my plants a good wash through and put them back in, i read it could be down to over feeding so we might cut feeding down. My Partner does not want snails at all so think im going to try and rid the tank of them this way. i'm doing my...

    Brand new to aquariums

i haven't added any of the pH stuff since the first time, after i read that stability is better than perfection. I know that 19L is pretty small but i wanted to make sure we were actually committed to this before buying a huge tank. we are now planning on cycling this tank and then letting it...

    Brand new to aquariums

These snail weren't wanted either, I seen one then thought I don't want that so removed both plants and found another. Thought I know I'll wash them really well under the tap and leave theM in a bucket over night. Got up this morning and there's another two. So it's off to artificial plants we...

    Brand new to aquariums

Ok daily water changes when the ammonia starts, got it. When should I expect to see ammonia? On a side note I just found what look like tiny snails on my live plants, should I take the plants out and wash them? Are the snails a good or a bad thing? I have a water testing kit but getting my...

Our ammonia is 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm and nitrates 0ppm. :( Also when we originally got it tested at the pet shop they said our pH was a bit low at 6.5 and told us to use pH plus. Now it's...

    Brand new to aquariums

I have the Fluval Spec V (19L) with the stock supplied filter. I know that it takes 5-8 weeks to cycle but wanted to fish in cycle as it's in the sitting room. Our water was clear was what he said pH was 7 no ammonia or nitrites etc. I'm going to by my own test kit tonight I think the API...
