    Freshwater Sump and Pressurized CO2

I am thinking about a sump for a 200+ g planted tank in my near future. Will using a sump diffuse all of the CO2 I am injecting into the water for the plants? Just curious...

    Water changes with fish

+1 Different states, municipalities have different levels of chloramine in their water system, for health reasons. Ensure you have enough prime or neutralizer. I use a pocket hose from the bathroom faucet. It works like a charm and prevents a bucket-palooza marathon. Although I haven't done...

    Live vs fake plants

Polkadots, I am still a novice on plants. I just followed the advice of some very smart contributors to this forum. After following their instructions, it came together pretty quickly. Lower light plants take a lot longer to grow. There are some exceptions. If your budget allows $125.00...

    Live vs fake plants

CO2 is not necessary but it helps. You can dose with Excel ( which gets pricey) but can also use Gluteralderhyde ( same stuff just don't get the glut with the detergent additive. Glut is a medical /surgical disinfectant, but the chemical make up provided the necessary carbon for plant growth)...

    Live vs fake plants

I didn't see what size tank you have. IMHO planted all the way. It is not a lot of work, very easy. My tank is stable and cycled very quickly. Depends on the fish you keep as well. 15 seconds to feed the plants daily. It is subjective. Do you want a lush green garden to watch you fish...

Will any 6500k Light grow plants?

Will any 6500k Light grow plants?

Brookster, Thanks for the quick reply. I am flexible in regards to standard socket. Cheaper is better. I would assume standard socket, but I want pretty low profile... Here is the link i got the idea from. I don't have the time to buy LED's and a power source and solder them up. He has...

    Glass Scratches?

I have looked into removing some scratches from my glass tank. ( Bought it used ) After quite a bit of research, most sites who sell the buffing products state that if you can feel the scratch with your finger nail, it's there for good. I ended my quest and decided it was not worth it...

Just got dry ferts for the first time. HELP...please :)

I started using PPS pro 3 weeks ago on my 125g heavy planted community. It works great. I used 2 bottles instead of 3. Trace elements in 1 and the other chems mixed in the other. The bottles mentioned by MMantelli are great. They are self dosing calibrated bottles that you can pre measure...

What is a good filter for a 4 foot, 200litre/50gallon tank?

I've heard the same about eheim filters. They are great. I have 3 classics. The quality is apparent. Dont dismiss Sunsun. for the cost they are great. I have one running along with 2 eheims and It works great. The uv light on the 304-b is a bit hokey but I don't care. As long as the...
