I saw a Cory deposting eggs but

...the Barbs were feasting on them. I hope that some of them find their way to safe havens. I also have Dwarf Puffers so I'm not sure if any of the Corys will survive.

    Planting question...?

When planting, do you leave the foam and lead weight on the plant? I planted some plants months ago and left them on. Now the plants have developed roots and I'm thinking of removing the foam and lead weight. Thanks in advance.

How to keep overflows from clogging?

What are your methods for keeping overflows from clogging while keeping small fish and fry from getting sucked in? In my FW, I wove a strip of pot scrubber material in the overflow box teeth and for my PVC overflow, I'm using a sponge tube. However, I'm getting a little clogging at the teeth of...

I reduced the water flow rate

My filter flow rate was overkill and caused too much turbulence. The floating plants were in a whirlpool. I removed one of the HOB filters and everything is much calmer and prettier. Some of the small plants can now take refuge in the floating plants whereas before they would have to...

    Crushed Coral. Help! :-(

Not knowing what I was doing I added 10 lbs. of CC to my sand substrate. I didn't know that you should put it in bags to be removed after a period of time. The volume that I added it to is 85 gallons (FW). My pH is the same as what's coming out of the tap (I think it was 7.6). My tank is...

I raised pH but how did this happened?

The other week I had a pH reading of 6.5 which has been at that level for months and I finally decided to do something to raise it. I chose the home remedy that consists of baking soda. It called for multiple treatments. I used a diluted solution than what was called for since it was my first...

    Sweet potatoe slips anyone?

Sweet potato slips in sump anyone? I'm growing a sweet potato in my overflow box and it is looking good. I've started to take the larger slips off and I'm putting them in the refugium. I'm wondering if they can survive submerged. The snails and crayfish like the dying leaves. Has anyone tried this?
