    Log sheets to print?

I ran across a printable form that keeps track of water chemistry, water changes, temp, etc. I think it was called AquaLog Entry form.....anyone have something to link an entry form like that in this discussion area? Obviously I'm not good with Excel! :banghead:

    Newbie saying Hi...

Hey CK, sorry I sounded snippy. Was cranky and needed sleep. Nice tank - now I get the helmet reference. My Avatar is a King salmon - took this pic at the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle where the vendors throw salmon 20-30 feet to other vendors to wrap for customers. I love fishing...

    Newbie saying Hi...

Welcome CK. I hate to say this, but you don't seem like the typical fishkeeper that I've been associated with over the years. If I ever had a fish die on me, I was devastated. Good luck with the fish you buy at Walmart. Oh well, "newbies" have to start somewhere, even if to raise fish for...

    Unwanted New Acquisition

My 20 gallon planted tank has had one or two hitchhiker snails that come with new plants. I can handle a few by squishing them, but a week ago I bought a lily that freaked me out with hundreds of tiny snails, even after I rinsed the crap out of the tuber and leafs. I gave up smashing them...

    Moss Ball

Moss balls I have several moss balls sized from 1/2 inch to 2 inches. On my weekly water change I always rinse and squeeze them out in tank water that's been removed, them roll them back in a perfect ball in my hands. I've been told they grow slowly by my LFS, so that's what I believe. They...

How to plant water lily bulbs?

A friend gave me some generic water lily bulbs, and I'm not sure if I plant them what appears to be root side down or sideways up or on end. I've been told all 3 ways work - that can't be....any opinions?

    20g Long

Just to clarify, you're running which Finnex , in addition to buying a Finnex Stingray in near future ?

    20g Long

Yikes! Wowie, tiger terror! Do ya think that CO2 might play a teeny part in the lush reds and jungle look to your tank? Am I right that this is a 20-gallon long? It looks like a 40-55. I might just look into CO2 mainly because my plants are growing at a minus-2 speed. I'm not sure why most...

    Nitrogen Deficiency

    Oopsy......please ignore.

    Nitrogen Deficiency

I noticed that you're running a Finnex Stingray LED light. I have the same one in my 20 gallon long tank. This particular light is mostly used for low-light plants, which mean they grow slowly. I have had similar KNO3 issues, even though I use Flourish Nitrogen, Flourish liguid and tabs. What...

    Edmonds, WA - Aquarium Co-Op

I've been going to only a couple of real fish stores over the last 20 years, The Fish Store in Ravenna (now in Lake City), and the Aquarium Co-Op, in Edmonds WA. I am thankful to Google for finding this little hole-in-the-wall 2 miles from my home. Large selection of fish and plants as well as...

GH Needs to be Dealt With?

Well, I took out all the rocks and I am testing the GH and KH every day for two weeks. I did a 3 gallon water change today, and I will continue doing frequent water changes. Already the three plain looking rocks have altered or changed their GH and KH levels. Very weird. Will update in the next...

    My 20 gallon long tank

Starting up a 20-Long FW tank Sadly, you can't have everything! Several years ago I went directly from a 20 gallon to a 55 gallon tank. Boy that was fun :banghead: I had every compatible community fish I could afford - too many of them and plants. It became my life after work. I spent hours...

    My 20 gallon long tank

Like you I started a 20-long tank last month. I slowly added what is now 12 Cardinal Tetras, 6 Endler males, and my favorites - 16 Amano Shrimp. To me, that's plenty for a shallow tank even though it's 30" long. I stuck in a Manzanita branch, attached an anubia, planted another in the sand...

    Upping Hardness

Upping kh/lowering gh Very interesting results this morning as I did the 6-1 test strip on my tap water. The GH was somewhere between 75 +/-, and the KH was 80. I just tested my aquarium (did a 30% water change yesterday) & results are GH close to 150, KH around 40 +/-......I think more water...

    Upping Hardness

Low KH Hey Cap'n.....Is your pH low? Does it fluctuate? Are you using RO system? Dunno. There's way too many opinions. Must look at manual. I'm looking to decrease my GH - in the last 10 days it's gone from 70 to 150 ppm. 3 water changes since then. Still high on the GH, KH perfect as...

    High GH, KH culprits?

Recently added but I say inert. To prove, I'll remove today.

GH Needs to be Dealt With?

I noticed in the last 6 days my GH had doubled from 75 to 150 ppm. The alkalinity (KH) has gone from 40 to 70 ppm. During this time I've done two 15% water changes (20 gallon long) and only addition was 1.6 ml of Flourish. All other test results have been totally normal. I did my last water...
