Been a while since an update. Hada slight brown algae problem that turned into.a big Brown algae problem because I thought turning the light "down" would help... Turned the light back up all the way and finally started dosing fertilizer. I got seachem flourish and I'm adding it twice a week. two...

    looking for plants in Denver

I can't seem to find plants except at petsmart and petco, and I'm looking to get a lot, and more variety. Any recommendations on a shop? Can I have your trimmings? Haha.

How worried should I be about exposed roots?

Thanks a lot! I'm thinking its maybe an inch or two, so ill add more substrate. Any advice on mixing substrates? Or should I get another 20lb bag of eco complete?

How worried should I be about exposed roots?

Dumb question probably, and I'm pretty sure I know how to fix it, but I'd like some advice. It's actually a multi parter. I have anubias nana growing on a piece of lava rock, it's doing quite well altogether honestly. It seems weekly I find a root, just hanging out, growing straight off the...

    First planted 20g.

Thanks for the advice cool guy, and thanks Mike, not quite where you're at yet. Did a rescape, added another rock and made a much better cave, I think it looks much more natural in general. Having some trouble hiding the LED wand in the eco-complete. I'm thinking about grabbing 10 lbs of gravel...

    First planted 20g.

I'm going for a super light bio load, I want to do as few water changes as possible. I'll keep up with water tests when fish go in to decide exactly how often and how much is needed. 4 Ottos isn't a bad Idea at all. Thanks again for the words!

    First planted 20g.

Gonna do a pair of Rams, and probably 2 ottos, not sure if I'll put anything else in.. I'll check the thread, but I'm not sure I'm ready for all that lol. Buying some root tabs sounds like my best bet. I am most definitely getting some form of cryptocoryne. I am not trying to start on ferts just...

    First planted 20g.

This will be the 4th fish tank I have personally owned in my life, and by far the best. It started after a major catastrophe in my community tank that made me have to start over. I love the planted Iook and I'm doing it. I have never done as much research on the hobby in general as recently (i...

Am I crazy to want Rams AND plants?

I must have been misinformed on the digging. Excellent news!. Thanks for the plant recommendation, most of these I'm already looking for. How's about anacharis?

Am I crazy to want Rams AND plants?

I'm setting up a fairly lightly planted tank, and the only fish I really want for it is a couple Rams. It's a 20G tall. Based on my not too little Google experience this is possible, but I haven't had any interactions with actual owners. I understand they're a diggy fish, which is great, I'm new...

Are these even meant to be submerged?

I don't care about the names for now, I don't think in Latin yet. I will be removing both plants today. There is ALSO a sprig of bamboo in there, but it is only partially visible in the pic with the white leaves... will it be ok submerged?

Are these even meant to be submerged?

I bought some plans in "combo packs" from Petco. I know I have anacharis, and anubias barteri, but there's 2 plants I haven't been able to ID after hours of digging through plant profiles. I didn't know anything really before planting this tank and I've already learned a lot. Anacharis was...

    Cobwebs?

I've got similar stuff growing on one of my rocks. After days of research, I've determined mine is bacterial bloom. I just set the tank up recently. Has yours been established for a while?

    Hello from Denver!

I'm not exactly sure what neighborhood this is considered Stapleton/parkhill/lowry ish. I've been to aquatic dog, Todd's tropical fish, and I loved Jersey johns when it was around, but his advice wasn't perfect I guess lol. I'm looking for plants, and I would love any and all advice though!
