How is it working out for you?

I have a trio of Dwarfs with a full grown Opaline and a very young Honey Sunset that will get just as big. As said earlier it works for some, depending on the fish and their personalities. I havent had any issues to date.

Been doing alot of reading up on these guys, the LFS has a great deal on them. I think I am going to pick some up, do they prefer groups of two, four, male/female? I havent found a site that suggests the grouping they like.

I kept the killi because I have had him for a few months now. I was so excited about my new hatchets though! :( I took them back and got a Kuli loach and a black Kuli loach.

For me....in a 55gallon...these two did not work together. :cry: I had to take four of the five hatchets I had just bought back to the lfs, obviously the golden wonder came out on top. :?

Get a variety so they don't get sick of the same thing, Plus a varied diet is better for the health of the fish. Bloodworms,brine shrimp, sinking wafers for the bottom feeders, etc.

Thanks for the advice everyone...Kind of supported what I've been thinking all along. I'll keep an eye out for a good deal of a tank of her own so she stays out of mine!!!! :lol:

Every weekend my wife and I walk down to our local LFS and talk to the owner and see the new stock he has. Just about every time we go she tells me how much she wants the fancy guppys and how pretty they are. I am hesitant because of their tails that they will be nipped at...I tell her this...

Either way, just make sure the water is de-chlorinated. You don't want to kill off the benny bacteria, just clean it up a little.

This site http://www.fishprofiles.com/profiles/ should help to find species compatible with the ones you mentioned. Just bring up a profile of a fish you were thinking of stocking and search for compatible tankmates. as far as plants, I would urge you to at least have some Java Fern in to...

His current tankmates are 3 dwarf gouramis, an opaline gourami, and 7 bleeding heart tetras. My main concern was that the tetras would nip at him as they did when the gouramis when they were introduced. The LFS I bought him from had him in a community tank so he was already used to sharing...

Currently: 3 dwarf gouramis (all males:2 powder blue- one flame) Opaline Gourami- female 7 bleeding heart tetras male betta I will be ordering a small school (5) of Sterba's cory very soon. Still trying to decide on a centerpiece fish! Thanks everyone.

Just be careful what you mix with the Tiger Barbs, they will nip!!!

Since it has only been three days I would give him a bit more time to get used to his new surroundings. Don't worry to much about underfeeding him either, fish in the wild can go days without eating or eating only scraps found on the substrate....maybe he is just playing hard to get. :)
