I have an extra 10g tank with no hood or anything. I want to start plants in here then move to my big tanks when bigger and healthy. I dont want to spend money on anything really, what are my options? I already have diy co2, ferts and a small air pump for water agitation. Thinking of a clip on style desk lamp with a 75w bulb.....what do you guys think?

what kind of DIY Co2?

it should be fine

maybe you could grow out some anubias nanas or anubias nana petites on a piece of DW

if its a plant only tank.........i'd make sure there is plenty of ferts(which you have), Co2(which you also have), and good substrate...........maybe eco-complete? a bag is $15 at petco..........online

or maybe just pool filter sand at $3 for a 10G if they have 20lb bags

maybe you want to keep a few shrimp? well, they'd help with a few things, keep the water better, and a side breeding profit maker

various cheap plants which you can find at petco for under $4 each

amazon swords
crypts
rotalas
grass(they have weird ones that are doing well in my tanks;))
anubias
DBT
etc.

and other p[lants you may want

jungle vals

THESE GROW LIKE CRAZY!!!

I had 5 in my 72G with 4X54 T5 HO AND NO CO2(LOTS OF ALGAE:()

But in 6 months i had over 200 and sold like 1/2 of them for $100;)
