That's a better choice, but be very careful putting any fish with a betta. They're known to kill other fish regularly.
Neons and cardinals are imo too active for a 10g, but ember tetras would be fine.
Be sure to have a back up plan, as the betta can very easily turn on the rest of the fish in there.
