I bought a 14 gallon aquarium and would like stocking advice.

The tank is brand new and has not yet cycled. I currently have a 20 gallon tank and a 5 gallon QT tank and all water readings are normal. As of now, the QT tank is housing 13 platy fry.

I have two filter pads in the 20 gallon - one with carbon in it and one without. They definitely have bb.

Can I use the filter pad without carbon to help cycle the new tank?
Can I also use gravel from the established tanks?

Stocking:

I was not planning on having fry and as of now I have 13 platy. I would like to distribute them. I am also concerned about more breeding - especially in-breeding.

I would also like to get new fish that are hardy and might have a sort of glow.

Any suggestions of how and what to stock and distribute my current fish?

Here is the breakdown:
The 20 gallon has 10 fish and a mystery snail.
2'corey catfish
3 bleeding heart tetra
3 platy
1 dalmation mollie
1 male guppy

***I have been told I need to add more bleeding heart tetras and cories

The 5 gallon QT - meant for QT but became emergency fry home
13 platy fry -12 are 3 weeks old and 1 is one week

The 14 gallon is empty until cycled.

Thus, I have a total 23 fish to distribute between a 20 and 14 gallon tank plus I have to add 2 bleeding heart tetras and 3 cories.

Can I even get/accommodate any new fish?

Somehow I went from crazy cat lady to crazy cat AND fish lady. My fear is I am going to be surrounded by fish tanks.

I would like to keep the 5 gallon for QT only. I bought a crappy 1 gallon when the 12 fry were born, but pretty much moved them into the 5gallon right away.

1)how to distribute fish between 2 tanks
2)can I get other fish as well
3)would it be bad to put some of the fish currently in the 20 gallon into the 14 gallon or will this be too stressful?

Thanks for any feedback.

I would say yes to both. The filter pad with carbon would also work if it has been there for a few weeks in an established tank.
