I have been given a 15 gallon hex tank and for stocking I was thinking a school of pygmy cories a group of red cherry shrimp and maybe some cpd's. I was wondering how many of each I could start with and if that would overstock I could go without the cpd's if I have to but I would like another small school in the tank if possible. I intend to plant the tank.

If you choose to use red cherry shrimp, be careful that the fish don't eat them.

Well I think the two fish I want should leave the bigger ones alone and eat maybe some of the babies to keep them under control

On a hex tank I think the two schools would be filling the aquarium. Hex tanks can't handle the bio load of a standard tank. How many were you wanting of each?

I was thinking either 6 or 8 of each because they need to be in schools

I would go with 6. That will be a pretty full looking aquarium at that point. The RCS should also be just fine with those.
