150 gallon planted set up

Hi, i am thinking of setting up a 150 gallon heavily planted tank but i do not know which substrate to use
I heard you can use dirt but i am not sure what sort i can use, any recommended brands? If i use dirt i will top if off with sand
I am not planning on using co2 so i will use low maintenance plants.

The fish i was thinking of adding includes
2 or 4 angels, not sure how many
a school of about 6 bosemani rainbows
5 clown loaches
1 blood parrot cichlid
a large school of tetra (maybe rummynose about 15 of them)
and maybe a rainbow shark

are these fish compatible?

by the way the tank dimensions will be 5' x 2' x 2'

I use kitty litter but it has t be the 100% clay with no fragrance.
