Hello all,
Little background, haven't had a tank in a few years since we moved across states. Last tank was a 90 gallon cichlid tank with 20 gal sump and DIY stand.
Looking forward to getting back into the hobby with a vengeance. Picked up a 180 off craigslist with stand, hob overflow, and small sump. I was really hoping for a pre drilled tank but after months of monitoring Craig's I gave in.
My questions mainly focus on the stand. It is not as heavily constructed as the last one I made from 2x4s.
My plan is to add 6 1x3 boards to the bottom and then put a .5 inch board on top to hold the sump. My thinking is this will hold the weight of the sump. But also that I can use the 1x3s as a way to reinforce the sides of the stand as they are just saddle stiches.
Finally I find it weird that a stand this size had no center supports, is that word to anyone else?
