1st time doing the shrimp cycle-do I have to wait for my LR?

I have had my sand, water, salt, heater, & power heads all done, I'm only waiting on my LR which will be a few days to a week... can I or should I throw my dead cocktail shrimp in there even with out my rock?

YES. About 3 for a 55 Gal. Not sure if you are talking about a 55 Gal or not.

Meanwhile. Do you have RAW Shrimp? Not that pre-cooked stuff.

Then you are ready. Trick with LR is you will basically have the same Ammonia spike when you put them in the tank as well. So if they are more than a WEEK out you might have a "Restart" so to speak.

Yes, I am waiting on LR and my Orbit lighting... trying to get cycled and get some life in there...

Fits perfect in the family room ...

We are using the one 50 for a frag tank as you suggested, cool eh? I thought it would be fun anyhow....

One should be enough I think. Might take a LITTLE longer. I'd go for TWO and move the process a tad quicker myself.
