2 red zebras spinning

Okay so I just witnessed my two red zebras spinning in a tight circle for some time.

What are they doing? I definitely have a male and female. Is this male showing ownership of the female?

Could be fighting or mating are they taking shots at the body and lip locking? Mating they will constantly circle and vibrate

They werent actually spawning or lip locking. Just swimming super fast in a tight knit circle. I saw tvis behavior before w my 2 yellow labs. Just never knew what it meant.
