I started a new 5 gallon tank 3 weeks ago with a fishless cycle. Added amon up to 4-5 ppm, turned heater up to 86 degrees, bubbles galor from air stone, a handful of gravel from tank that has been up and running for 5 years. As of today I still have amon at 4 ppm and nitrites are only .25 ppm. This seems to be taking a really long time for a 5 gallon tank. My 30 gallon was cycled in 5 weeks and all other tanks I ever had ranging from 10-30 gallons seemed to be done in 4-6 weeks. Any body have any ideas? The ammonia is Ace brand pure. There is a java fern and an anubias nana in the tank, but I have had live plants in cycling tanks before with no issues. Maybe I am just imagining it is taking forever?
