First post! Let me give a bit of background on myself.
I have 15 years experience in the reptile hobby, 5 years in fish, and about 7 years experience in building successful planted vivariums and aquariums.
However, I've never worked with invertebrates, and have recently fallen in love with vampire crabs. I have an old 55 gallon aquarium, with a dirt backdrop in it with plant holders. I'd love to turn it into a paludarium. Maybe a flooded driftwood forest with a pond.
But every vampire crab tank I see is quite a bit smaller... is 55 gallons too much room? Are tank mates an option? I've of course seen shrimp go in with them, and I have several neocardinas I'd love to see swimming about in a pond.
Heavily planted? Sparse? If you have experience in vampire crabs, I would love all the information you can give me.
