The purpose of this tank is to cater to our juvenile discus and baby angels. It is made from three 21 gallon rimless tanks. Each tank will be connected via a water fall. Filtration will be provided by a single fluval g6, lowest tank as filter input, top tank filter output. Heat will be applied in the discus (top) tank and (hopefully) chill enough via the waterfalls for the angels.

I can't wait to see it finished. I think it will be both unique and stunning.
What ever gave you the idea to try something like this?
I'm in awe of your tank? tanks?. I would love to have a set up like that for my Mbunas. It would definitely keep them entertained. And my family entertained as well.

Looks like the staggered tanks my LFS's keep all their plants in! Love it though, great design!

Watching to see how this one turns out :)

Cabinet is stained and the filter holes are drilled.

That will be a truly beautiful set up when it's finished.

This week; We're off to the next town over to pick-out some white pea-gravel. Should offset the black pretty well.

Does any one see a problem, even though all aquariums together equal 60 somthing gallons, a single aquarium is only 21 gallons. I thought that discus needed more room and don't angles need at least 30 gallons.
Not trying to start a fight, o and the aquariums look good that way.

It's for their juvenile angels and discus which should be fine.

Exactly.

Angels will be sold off before they reach 1.5"; which means I'll be able to store 2x 20g = 40 baby angels.

Angel parents live in a separate 30 gallon breeder.

4-5 Discus juvies will be kept until 4-5"; then transferred to the 125g.

I'm expecting at least one breeding pair from the original 5; which will be "rewarded" with their own 30-40g breeder. "Expecting" might be too optimistic; but my female is looking for a mate and laying eggs all around the tank.

First waterfall test!!
