Hey there, wasn't planning on an upgrade, but a friend got a new tank and had this one laying around (thanks James). It is almost 80 gal, all the fish in my 29 gal will be going in there. 1 angelfish, 5 tiger barbs, 1 Puntius denisonii, a juvenile common pleco and 4 silver hatchet fish. Probably will still have space for further stocking, but that will be further along. Will tell you guys soon what I will be doing for lights and filtration. Hope you like it. Cleaning it up and leak testing.

Well got a lot of work done today, I used to move my old tanks by myself so that wasn't a restriction on when I could work on them, but obviously I cant move this one by myself. Needless to say, it weights a lot.

1) moved the old tank and fish to a new spot so I could install and work on the new tank without any hurry.

2) put a layer of crushed pottery bits, used to be my old gravel. And then another layer of small rounded rocks.

3) started filling up.

4) almost to the point I want it to.

For the time being I will continue to use my DIY canopy and lights and as for filtres 2 internals. One rated for 300gal/hour and the second rated for 125gal/hour. Eventually I would like to get a bigger external filter or work on a sump. Any thoughts?

Im probably buying a couple more fish tomorrow and I want to use my old 29 gal as a QT before putting them in DT, how long is this usually done for?

I have a question about my lights, Im using the sane set of lights as with my 29 gal which was 30cm deep, this tank is 50 cm deep and Im starting to look at some signs of deterioration in my plants. What would be a appropiate light system ( watts, kelvin, t5, t8?) for this tank?

Photo update! Still long way from what I want it to be, but havent had much time on my hands lately.

I like it!! It's similar to what I wanna do w/ my tank eventually. Baby steps...

Is your Anacharis just free floating? I just got some. LFS's advice for it was not good, they said to keep it bunched & place it in the gravel. I found a site that said to separate it & just stick the individual strands in the gravel or if left in bunches, the ties will kill it off from where itstired & below--I don't need any disintegrating plants in my tiny lil tank!! thank God for the Internet!! I was debating what to do w/ it in my tank...

Lol, not usually, but some have uprooted and I was kind of lazy and didnt fix it before taking the picture. Would love to give you some input with your tank.
