A few Halide Questions

I currently have 260 watts of PC lighting. I have a few anemones and a candy coral and some leathers and start polyps and they all seem to be doing nicely except the rose anemone. Im getting ready to purchase a 175 watt halide ballast and reflector and everything.

What kind of temperature increase are we talking about here ? My tank is acrylic, do i need to build a larger canopy ? ( 10 inches away from the plastic at least? ) as well as have a few built in fans to move some air ?

I just dont want to cause any damage to the tank. I forsee a new canopy is in my near future. Thanks for any help.

You have the right idea. My tank is acrylic also. My warranty stated MH must be 10' away or it is void. I got my lights and cooling fans from captivereefs.com Darin also gives a discount if your are a AA member.

I built my canopy at 15" high to avoid the heat problem.

10" is fine anything over 175 watts should be at least 12".
