" It was the night before Christmas, and all through the house, water was churning, asleep was my spouse.

The skimmer was clean, the filter smelled fresh,
In hopes that St, Nick would be thoroughly impressed.

Half asleep I awoke to the splashing of water,
I leaped from my bed to see what is the matter.

I ran down the hall expecting a flood,
But instead saw a man with red suit and a hood.

The glow from the moonlight half lit the room,
The jolly old man was holding a broom.

I couldn’t believe my eyes it was St. Nick,
Sweeping up test tubes as he maneuvered the stick;

Angrier than hornets, his curses came out,
I couldn’t believe the words that came from his mouth.

You fraggin' fish nuts, he cursed.
All these tanks, what if one of them burst?

Why can’t you be normal and ask for normal things,
Instead of skimmers, and halides, and chiller machines;

The stuff weighs a ton; it’s hard on the knees,
And to build it the elves need Master’s degrees.

He unloaded the goodies all the glass stuff first,
The fishes and I watched with glee as he cursed.

Out came controls, skimmers and more,
Tests kits, pumps, and gadgets galore;

“Who orders rocks for Christmas”, scornfully he said,
And placed thirty pounds of it on my deep sand bed;

He sat for some milk, exhausted from the task,
“What’s wrong with a soccer ball he asked?

He sat on the sofa, to rest for a while,
Watched the fishes and began to smile;

So this is what all this stuff is for.
For fishes, and corals and more.

I’ve rarely seen such a beautiful sight,
Happy Christmas to you, and to all a good night"

i got a skimmer for my 50 gallon tank. Thats one of the 2 gifts I asked for and got. The other was a ro/di unit. Oh well there is always my birthday

After my family all decided I was nuts for the gifts I received (protein skimmer, halide relectors), I read that poem to everyone. They still don't understand but they at least saw that I wasn't alone... because someone wrote that poem and they knew it couldn't have been me. :D

Cool! You're gonna have to read the poem with an Irish accent, lad. In that way you can rhyme flood and hood. Hehehehe.

Very creative! We should have like a poem section here in this forum. I bet you it would be great laughs for our hobby.

Thanks for sharing the Christmas spirit and Happy New Year to all!
