We have a 75 gallon tank with a variety of mostly communal fish and are currently running a Magnum canister filter and dual powerheads. Doing some research, I've learned that undergravel filters and canisters are not ideal companions.

If I eliminate the powerheads, what would I use to churn the water in their place?

The magnum 350?

I'd add another canister filter. UGFs, while IMO aren't very good, I can't see how they'd have a negative affect from running in parallel with a canister filter.

My understanding is that when using both a UGF and canister, they're kind of pulling in opposite directions. So they cancel each other out to some extent.

Do I need water churning or do I just need some movement? My girlfriend is worried that if there's no bubbles, the fish will die.
