African Cichlid Diet

I know that mbuna species eat almost exclusively algae in the wild, while haps and peacocks occasionally eat smaller fish and invertebrates. Would it be bad to feed frozen brine shrimp to mbuna every once in a while or would it be best to just feed spirulia based flakes/pellets?

It wouldn't hurt but feed only 1-2 a month. It would help the colors shine better to though.

Okay, I currently have hikari gold and some other brand (not in front of me) sinking pellets. As well as tetra veggie.

I like the omega cichlid diet slow sinking pellets. The h. Gold has a bit more protein. Also use peas this helps clear the digestive tract and enchants the color to.

Just like regular frozen peas? Or do they need to be prepared?

I microwave for 20 sec and take out of the shell.

I feed my fish 2 - 3 times/day is that too much?

No I feed usually 2 a day and don't feed for a day.
