African Cichlids Housed with ID Shark?

Im going to get a 8" ID Shark but i just got a bunch of fry African Cichlids (1") a day ago, can they be housed together?

If nto im thinking of getting rid of them for the shark because the Cichlids are just hiding...it could be because they are babies and we just got them yesterday im not sure....

What size tank will this be attempted in?

I'm not 100% sure because the only cichlids I have ever kept are oscars but wouldn't the ph be a problem because cichlids need it higher than most?

Maybe for a short time but considering the ID shark can reach 36" I'd re-think keeping one in anything but a pond long term.
