Albino catfish 7inch

I have an albino cat he(maybe she) is 7 inches and just about too big for my 55 gallon tank. It's not too big now, but grows at a constant rate like any other catfish. What should I do? I figure I could release it as catfish are a common fish in SWLA(southwest Louisiana) and I'm certain it's just a channel cat. I mean I know I probably shouldn't just because that's not something you do but in a few months he will be too big for the tank and I'd feel bad stunting growth. Ill dumbfounded about this situation because I almost want to return it but the petstore in town is ignorant to say the least!! Any ideas?

Look if any one is your area wants the catfish. Another option is to get a bigger tank. Do not release the fish
