Hi,
I have a 16 gallon tank with 7 white clouds and 4 Bronze Catfish. With all the ferreting around the Bronze Catfish do do they eat algae at all. Should I get a real algae specialist? Suggestions on what and how many?
Cheers
Joe

Not really. I see mine nibble away at things on the driftwood and plants, but I am pretty sure my plecos take care of the algae.
For your tank, otos may be a good choice.

Personnel Experience - my bronze cory did nothing to my out burst of brown algae ... just 2 days ago I went out and got a pair of sucker mouth cats(wanted to get otto's but was unable to find them and was told they were very rare to come by in Ausi - sydney) these look VERY similar to ottos (can any one help on exact species ?)

I had browne algae covering most of my plants live & plastic .. and now not a sign of brown algae.

are they chinese algae eaters(gyrinocheilus aymonieri)? They are not very good at eating algae and get fairly big and may attack or harrass other fish

mm... looks like thats what I have .. they are gonna get way to big for my tank ... darn ... but they DID consumed all my brown algae

two otos with high fuel economy

Hi,
Two new otos have been introduced in the tank 4 hours ago. They are very small but efficient. I can see an amazing difference especially on the hand picked rocks I like. What are they going to do tomorrow? Should I worry about them feeding themselves when the algae is gone? 8O
Cheers
Joe
