Algae help needed please!

Did a small water change last night. Trimmed off the worst melt as well as the leaves with BBA. Treated with Excel today. Fish are all fine (I worry about all this chemical stuff), just a bit concerned about Kevin the nerite

so wait will adding fertilizers and carbon will help kill algae? will root tabs and liquid co2 have the same effect?
