Hi. My 2.5 year old live planted Fluval Edge has been experiencing some hairy algae issues. But only on the actual plants. Wondering why this is happening and how I can get rid of it. First time I'm experiencing this. Any info is helpful. I can post pics if it helps.

Do you have a pic of it?

What substrate do you have?

Do you use flaked food? What kind(s) do you use?

Have you not been doing as many/much in your pwc?

Generally it is phosphates. You might try a pouch of Phos-Guard.

I am getting more than usual too and have possibly pinned it down to the food. That tank doesn't get as frequent pwc because of the low bioload in it.

Then the other possibility is the lighting compounding the problem, are you using halogens or LEDs?

I would do more % pwc and a little more frequently. Algae grows better when the phosphates are up. Is it possible you have more of them in your water supply. you can call them and ask what the latest reading is.

Thanks so much for your help. I will process this info and write back.
