Algae?

What kind of algae do I have growing on my filter, heater, and rocks (and plants, I think)? What can I do about it other than scrubbing it off? I looked into some AQI products that say they remove algae, but it seems like they may harm my fish.

You could try Flourish Excel by seachem ... I'm new to the hobby so I have no idea what kind of algae that is though...

Also, should note the following:
- 3 gallon tank, 1 betta
- no idea on wattage of light - aquarium came in a kit and I can’t find any info on light
- light is on timer from 7am-7pm
- tank is in sunny room but not in direct sun
- no CO2 or fertilizer administered
- planted with Anubias, Java fern, and moneywort
- tank is cycled and changed every 2 weeks (about 25%)

Just looks like green algae to me.

Seachem Flourish Excel is a mild algaecide, so that might help. For me the elephant in the room is the light on 12 hours a day. 6 to 8 hours is more what you commonly arrive at to maintain algae at managable levels. Throw in a well lit room as well.

Manually clean off and remove what you can, reduce the lighting period, change water a bit more often, see how things are in a couple of months. Maybe a snail?

Thanks, Aiken Drum. I literally just changed the timer for my light, as I came across the 6-8 hour advice on this forum. Going to clean and get a snail. Thanks!
