Almost had a betta-induced heart attack

Went over to my tank to find my beatiful betta floating vertically, just drifting in the current. Wanted to cry. Lifted the hood of the tank, and he swam away. I think I coud hear him laughing......

Are you new to betta ownership? I used to have one that slept vertically head-down.

Yes, I am rather new. Think he was sleeping? I'm sorry I woke him now. They do this often?

Mine rest on their sides and sleep. When i first got into bettas they freaked me out alot. But you will know if the are dead. They turn very pale.

you think that freaks you out, imagine you fish (a BGK) lying sideways, sometimes tilted to be almost upside down, his excuse if sleeping, but i know he just likes seeing me freaked out
