As much as i love this plant,I've just discovered its not a true aquatic plant ( thanks lfs ?)anyhow, have any of you grown this plant successfully?according to the Google machine these plants only last a month or two fully underwater.live and learn i guess

Cheers Phil ,I should have done some research before buying

Unfortunately this plant along with many others are sold as aquatic and many just like you are duped by less than upstanding people that mark them as such. I'll see if I can find the list of non aquatics commonly sold as aquatic so you have reference.

I read that a general rule of thumb is that if a plant can support its own weight out of the water, then its not a true aquatic

There are a lot of plants that have two forms, emersed and submerged. So many plants like swords, anubias, ferns, etc will support their own weight out of water.

I have heard if the plant feels waxy, it is not aquatic. Not sure if this applies to emerged aquatic plants though....
