Hello, I have recently set up a planted tank. My tank is a jewel rekord 700 (70l) it measures 61x46.5x31cm. Lighting is the standard jewel t8 15w day light. I have 18kg of Caribbean eco complete substrate. Live plants are - Rotala Rotundifolia, Amoracia Aquatica, Hygrophila Mini and Lobelia Cardinalis. I have placed API root tabs in the substrate by the plants. Just wanted to know if I should be giving my plants any other type of food? Any help and advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Hello again smout..

Your lighting is low. The plants will need time to get used to the new water conditions, so they'll look poorly for a time. If the tank isn't too tall, you may have enough light. Time will tell.

You have a small tank, less than 20 gallons. It's important for the plants and the fish to remove and replace half the tank water every week to remove dissolved wastes and replace minerals in the water.

Hi, they've been in 12 days. I've already had to trim the Rotala Rotundifolia and have replanted them and they are doing fine. Some of the Rotala are going black/brown towards the bottom of them but are lush green towards the top. Is this a light issue? The plants I got are ment for low light. They are growing but some of the plants have some black on them and I'm not sure what it is ?

Hi again, forgot to mention that my aquarium light is on a timer for 10 hours a day. Is this enough?

Regards
