angelfish damage - venting

So I went to the lfs store last week and picked up a 2 year old gold marble angel. Now this had some damage on it's top fin which I thought was fin rot. I bought it and took it home, the lfs owner said it got brought in that way and it was neglected. I'll say this poor thing I don't think will ever grow back it's fin cause all the tines are pretty much broke off. Just really ticks me off. Well regardless I'm treating it with melafix for a 7 days length and am doing every other day 50% water changes to heal it up.
