I bought two anubias (nana and congensis) as that seemed to be the most recommended plant with mbuna. Have had them about 3 months.

The congensis seems to be healthy and starting a couple small shoots, but the nana is getting some holes and frayed edges. I haven't seen the fish eating at them but who knows. I don't do any fertilizers either. Is fertilizer needed for anubias? They are also growing some algae so maybe that is bad for them?

You could probably use some fertilizer. I put seachem flourish in my tank and my anubias nana pop two or three new leaves every week.
