Anubius and their roots

While doing a pwc I decided to move the driftwood a bit I bumped it up against he anubius and it kinda came out from it's place in the gravel can I cut the roots that have grown out long cut em shorter and stick it back?

Or tie it to the driftwood gently. They don't "plant" well. You can certainly replant as long as the rhyzome is not buried. But I tie mine, the roots will grow around the wood or rock.
