Looking for some advice on adding clams. Planning on adding them to lower tank system (see below for details). System has been in operation since October. Lower tank has a few suncorals and a young pair of black clowns. Would like to add seahorses eventually.

I have a top/bottom reef tanks (top 190 gallons, bottom 125 gallons) that are plumbed together with deep sand bed in both (~4" - fine sand). Working on adding live rock (~50 lbs rock & 50 lbs rubble so far). Bottom tank is subdivided with plexiglass dividers to lower flow in bottom tank & to house rubble. Using 2 Iwaki 1200 - 1500 gph each pumps (valved to moderate flow). Top tank has 3 - 250 10k MH & actinics (~8 hours @ 250W, ~3 hours @750W, actinics on for ~14 hours). Bottom tank has 1 250 20k MH (~8 hours @250W). Bottom tank 72" x 18" X20" tall.

seahorses should not be put in a tank with fish that will compete with them for food. They will ALWAYS lose the competition. Seahorses belong in a species only tank. There are a few fish that can be added, but the list is quite short. Seahorses also do not appreciate much current in their tank.

The clams will need/appreciate the MH lighting. They may do better under your stronger lighting, which if I read correctly, is your top tank.
