I'm having trouble cleaning the substrate with all the plants in the way. Anyone have some secret tip? Maybe I just have too big of a siphon and need a smaller more maneuverable one.

If your tank is well planted, you really don't have to worry about getting down deep around the plants.

Just vacumme in the open area's where you can see your subtrate, because whatever is left over is just food for your plants.

Hope that helps.

I have learned to take a large portion of the total water change out(10-15gal. of a 20gal. change) before I start vacuuming the gravel. Then I do the open areas first and then vac. the rest. When the Python clogs I'm done.
