does anyone know how to report a store to the humane society? my friend and i just got back from a store in buffalo called "tropical fish" and it was disgusting. you couldn't even see in the tanks. the place reaked like a cats litter box that hasnt been changed in 10 years. i wanted to throw up. the few fish that were alive were sick or dying. it was aweful. any advice on what i can do would be appreciated. i'm gonna post this same post in the saltwater forum as well. TIA

yea, theres a place right up the street from me thats like that.. the few fish tanks they have are cloudier than anything, they keep their feeder fish in tupperwear tubs...

sadly theyve been around for 5+ years

I was in a lps like that on Long Island recently. The stench of ammonia from the cat and dog pens downstairs was so overwhelming, I just had to get out of there. The fish looked OK, but I had no intention of putting up with the smell, or giving these people my business.

I reported a shop to the DOA for selling dozens of bettas knowingly, to a guy that was going to fight them. They now have a sign saying "1 betta per customer". :D

I gave up reporting incidents long ago. There's lots of different organizations and lots of online forms, but it seems that it never makes any difference. They are either too busy, understaffed, or have more important matters to attend to. That's been my personal experience anyways. :?

Like I said, the Dept Of Agriculture nipped the selling of those bettas in the bud. They no longer sell more than 1 betta to a person. They even make folks sign a paper that says so. 1 person can absolutely make a difference!
