When comparing the water to the chart should you hold the tube right up to the card or a little in front of it? Not sure if ammonia is reading 4 or 8ppm.

I lay my five against the card to the left of the column I'm reading. This allows me the best lighting for the angle I hold my head when I read. My head tilts to the right when I read or type, to the left when I write. I'm sure that's weird, but that's the way I am.

I have the same issue. I've not seen dark green yet (I'm fishless cycling).
