Ok , thanks I didn't know if that would be making a hybrid or not , good advice. Next I have a 125 gallon tank and I have the sweetest blood parrots, don't pick on anyone and sevrum , all south American so do they go with appisto's?
For A caucatoides you really want several females for each male to see the real deal. A 40 gallon tank is ideal.
they don't all need to be orange flash either.
NO - they will all harass and eat them.
I've kept about 15 species of Apistogramma, including cacatuoides, and have never once had success with a harem. I see it recommended all the time but I've had several breeding females kill the odd girls out. Pairs are fine. Not sure what is meant by "the real deal" and why a spawning pair wouldn't count.
I wouldn't keep them together, but not because blood parrots or severums will eat them. Apistogramma can be surprisingly fiesty and in all likelihood would be left alone by BP and severums. However, if you want successful spawns, it's best to just keep a pair in their own tank. That's going to cut down on stress for you AND the fish.
