So the HOB filter i have now is not cutting it, theres so many tiny particles in the water. Ive even put a polishing pad in with the filter and its a little better but still many particulates. I've done some research i know both are made by fluval and both have 3 stage filtration. what would you guys suggest? are there any gropes and complaints about either?

I love my aquaclear, it keeps the water clean and is easy to maintain. Can't tell you about the c3 though, but from what you stated, they seem similar.

I run every model aquaclear aside from a 110 and a c4. In all honesty.. if you don't plan on running chemical media such as purigen or carbon than aquaclear all the way..

Honestly, they are very similar. The Cx series give you more media compartments and less bypass for a higher price. Lately, I have been buying the Cx series over the AC series. They are both good filters as far as HOB filters go.
