has anybody had this tank? im unsure how to work the filter...it makes a buzzing knocking sound when just the base in immersed in water. when i fill some more water in the tank then the filter sounds good but water fills the entire top compartment, which doesnt seem right either????????/

hi i have 1 of these bowls the water is supposed to fill the top compartment as this is where filteration takes place it should go thru the top compartment and back out into the tank filtered hope this helps

ok thanks for the advice...just to clarify...the whole black top compartment fills with water...covering the entire power head...then the water emptys back into the tank like a waterfall???
