newbie here, and just curious :)

why would you get rid of a sump and have something on teh back of the tank?

I have seen alot of tanks with HOB refuge before and work great....ON the other side of it though you will have to have all your equipment hanging in your tank, which alot of people dont like the look of. Pros/cons of both.

Again I think with the integrated skimmer the point would be that the skimmer and filtration can be handled (as well as heater) in the HOB fuge. Thats all I have in my sump other than a clutter of plumbing and return pump, which I would not need. Dosing would be a challenge, but with being able to pull out the sump, I can prolly just stick a pump on a timer in a 5G bucket for dosing. My sump now only serves as a home for heater skimmer and PhosBan 'reactor' and a square of filter media. The more I think about all the free space under my tank when this is done, the more I like it. I am concerned about dosing, thats about it.
