What depth do you have your gravel? It seems people have many different answers so what is your depth and why?

I like planted tanks, so 1.5-2 inches, so there's plenty of room for rooting.
Would have to be about three inches. I find that works better for keeping the plants in and some plants get quite big as the tank is 2.5ft deep.

2-3". All tanks are sand for now. But same idea with gravel. Roots need room.
