I have purchased some aquatic plants and received this along with other aquatic plants I know are suited to underwater conditions.
If someone could tell me what this is I would appreciate it many thanks Dan.

Looks like Dracaena braunii. It's semi aquatic meaning if it is fully submerged it will die eventually. They shouldn't really sell these as aquarium plants. I've bought these before too.

Could i float this above water

Would i be able to float it stem in water only

Some people use the HOB and some use new SS or plastic soap dishes or similar that will hang (or suction cup which will need replacing more frequently cause they loose their suction ability) on the side /rim of the tank and attach them (fishing line or cotton string). Most people have got one of these terrarium plants before, I think they mean fish tanks with lizards not fish! If you bought it they will usually return them with the receipt.
