I purchase aquarium wood at my aquarium store I put it into my tank two days ago. Now it looks like it is covered in slime. Should I be worried? And how do I fix it?

Pretty sure it's just algae Take a picture

This is common for new driftwood and is not harmful, it will go away on its own in a month or two or if you have snails they may eat it.

I recently put together a tank for my mother with three pieces of store bought African tangle roots.

They got slimy just like that.
Get some algae eaters in your tank if you don't have any and they will eat it up.

But it will go away in anywhere from a week to a couple of months.
After it does the wood will really look nice.

Biofilm is perfectly normal and should cover everything in your tank. Don't worry about it one bit ;D
